Jetze Tepe, PhD, Joins Cancer Center Research Faculty

Tepe, JetzeThe Cancer Center welcomes Professor of Chemistry and Director of Drug Discovery Services Jetze Tepe, PhD, to its Cancer Biology Program.

Dr. Tepe’s research interests include multiple myeloma, intrinsically disordered proteins and small-molecule therapies. In his lab, Dr. Tepe and his team focus on the synthesis of small molecules, targeting “undruggable proteins” to treat cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. By developing new synthetic methodologies, drug-like molecules are prepared and evaluated for their clinical significance.

As Drug Discovery Director, Dr. Tepe leads a community-wide resource for Cancer Center members, which provides researchers with consultation, preparation purification and ADME analysis of chemical matter to help advance therapies to patients. Drug Discovery Services offers biochemical probe development, scale-up synthesis, focused and diversity lab synthesis and hit to lead optimization. They also offer predictive ADME services including compound solubility, protein binding, membrane permeability and plasma stability.

Dr. Tepe earned his BS in chemistry from Jacksonville University and his PhD at UVA. He completed his postdoctoral studies at Colorado State University and served as an Assistant, Associate and full Professor of Chemistry at Michigan State University before returning to Grounds. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Tepe!
