UVACCC Welcomes Tianpeng Zhang, PhD

The Cancer Center research faculty welcomes Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology, Tianpeng Zhang, PhD, to the Molecular Genetics and Epigenetics Program. In his lab, Dr. Zhang developed methods to study genome maintenance in repetitive sequences, including damage response regulation, replication stress resolution, and triggers of Alternative Lengthening of Telomeres (ALT). His research seeks therapeutic applications for cancer and other diseases.

Dr. Zhang earned his BA and PhD from Sun Yat-Sen (Zhongshan) University and then completed his postdoctoral training at Penn’s Perelman School of Medicine where he studied the initiation and maintenance of ALT mechanisms in DNA. Outside the lab, he enjoys cooking, building Legos with his 5-year-old son, and exploring nature with family and friends. Welcome to UVACCC, Dr. Zhang!
