CR-SIP
Cancer Research Summer Internship Program

We are thankful to the American Cancer Society’s support for the UVA Cancer Research Summer Internship Program.
The Cancer Research Summer Internship Program (CR-SIP) is a paid, 10-week summer internship for undergraduate students interested in cancer research. Participants will be embedded in research groups at the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center to gain experience and learn about careers in the field. The program seeks to enroll students who may traditionally be excluded from the scientific workforce and encourages applications from individuals who have had limited exposure, experience, and access to research opportunities, including first-generation college students, students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and students attending colleges or universities with fewer research resources.
We offer:
- 10 weeks of immersive research at UVA
- Research opportunities in basic, clinical, translational, and population sciences
- World-class facilities
- Professional & career development activities
- Scientific communication instruction
- Opportunities to present your work
- Peer and professional mentoring
- Social activities
- Networking opportunities
- A competitive stipend
- On-campus housing
- Travel compensation
To be eligible for CR-SIP, applicants must
- Be an undergraduate college student (freshman, sophomore or junior at time of application)
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
- No research experience is necessary but applicants should have an interest in cancer research or cancer related careers
- All applicants considered for admission into the program must meet the criteria outlined by the American Cancer Society
