The UVA Health Office of Diversity and Community Engagement is partnering with Mount Zion First African Baptist Church and other community partners to offer the church’s 3rd Annual Men’s Health Day Event: Know Your Numbers. Through LabCorp, blood testing for CBC (complete blood count), lipids, prostate, and hemoglobin A1c will be provided free of charge. Clothing, haircuts, food, and information on community resources also will be available.
A UVA COE Team member will be available for cancer-related education and navigation.
The Stay in the Game initiative is community-driven. We encourage you to become champions of prostate cancer awareness. Who: various health professionals, including nurses, pharmacists, CHWs, and navigators
What: Fifeville Community Health Station
Where: 782 Prospect Ave, Charlottesville, VA 22903 (Abundant Life Ministries)
Why*: The purpose of these bi-weekly (every two weeks) events is to advance community engagement and health equity for all. At Fifeville Health Station, residents can receive free blood-pressure and blood-sugar checkups, get help accessing their cancer screenings, as well as take home fresh produce via a pay-what-you-can farm stand.
COE and Every Women’s Life Program will be at Northside Library on October 2 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. COE will be offering cancer screening information and navigation services.
Northside Library is hosting this event.
