Community outreach event providing cancer screening navigation services and spreading general cancer screening awareness.
Event info (from UVA School of Med website): The purpose of these bi-weekly (every two weeks) events is to advance community engagement and health equity for all. At Fifeville Health Station, residents can receive free blood-pressure and blood-sugar checkups, get help accessing their cancer screenings, as well as take home fresh produce via a pay-what-you-can farm stand.

Providing cancer screening navigation services with a monthly educational focus on certain cancer types and/or cancer prevention information. A COE Navigation Team member will be present to provide cancer-related navigation services.

When: 11/21 from 8am-4:30pm
Who: Lauren Carbo from UVA’s Lung Cancer Screening Program
Description: OCOE and the UVA Lung Cancer Screening Program will be at Blue Ridge Medical Center (BRMC) to discuss lung cancer screenings with BRMC patients. Patients will be able to walk through a pair of inflatable lung that show the impacts on lung cancer on the body, and will receive both lung cancer screening information and navigation services.
