Professional Activities
Meryem Altin Karagoz joined UVA in 2023 as a Visiting Graduate Researcher at the Biocomplexity Institute. She has been awarded a grant from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey for her PhD project to pursue at UVA. During her tenure at UVA, she has focused on developing novel deep-learning models for brain tumor diagnosis and advancing generative models for medical image synthesis. Her expertise includes developing Self-supervised Learning models for various medical imaging modalities, including MRI, pathology, and mammography, with significant contributions to cancer diagnosis.
She joined the Center for Diabetes Technology as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in 2024. Her current research interests encompass a broader exploration of state-of-the-art deep learning techniques in type 1 diabetes.
Personal Activities
She enjoys spending time with family, cooking, hosting friends, traveling, and discovering nature through walks.
