Leadership in Patient Safety & QI Track (PSQI)

The Leadership in Patient Safety and Quality Improvement (PS-QI) Track at UVA is a relatively new track within the Internal Medicine residency program and was established in 2016 in response to the growing and evolving role of hospital medicine around the country and broadened in 2020 to focus more inclusively on leadership training in QI and Patient Safety. Residents start in this longitudinal training track in their PGY-2 year. This track provides supplemental training, mentoring, and guided QI work that supplements the program’s standard QI curriculum. This track suits residents interested in hospital medicine, quality improvement, and/or clinical leadership roles within other clinical disciplines.
