Apply to the Fellowship
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are adjusting our interview process along with the rest of the Gynecologic Oncology programs to better accommodate our applicants.
Criteria for Selection of Trainees
Trainees in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology must have successfully completed an accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. They must be Board eligible and file an application with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology at least 90 days prior to entry into the fellowship. Their application must be approved by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology before beginning their fellowship. They must obtain the knowledge and skills outlined in the “Guide to Learning Gynecologic Oncology” and must conform to the current “Special Requirements for Graduate Medical Education in Gynecologic Oncology” as prescribed by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
The University of Virginia accepts fellowship applications only through ERAS. Our program sponsors the J-1 visa so international medical school graduates must be eligible for ECFMG certification prior to matriculation and demonstrate spoken and written English proficiency.
The application deadline is April 2022. If you wish to apply to our fellowship program, please go to http://www.aamc.org. Please include the following with your application:
A complete application consists of:

- 3 letters of recommendation, at least two of which are from ob/gyn faculty members at your institution
- Personal statement
- The Medical School Performance Evaluation (“Dean’s Letter”)
Once your application is submitted, please email one PDF document to include all your CREOG scores to email@example.com.
