Madison Klavans, MD
Third Year Fellow
Dr. Klavans grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida and went to college at Emory University in Atlanta where she studied International Politics and Italian. After college she went to Tulane University for medical school and then completed residency at UVA. Madison Klavans, MD stayed at UVA as an academic generalist for one year and now very excited to stay for another 3 years for fellowship!

Jaime Kiff, MD
Second Year Fellow
Dr. Kiff grew up in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and began competing in gymnastics at an early age, continuing through the collegiate level at Oregon State University. There, she earned a degree in Biology. After graduation, she worked as a medical scribe in a gynecologic oncology clinic, where she quickly developed a passion for the specialty. She went on to earn her medical degree at Oregon Health & Science University, followed by an OBGYN residency at the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. Dr. Kiff then moved to Charlottesville to pursue a gynecologic oncology fellowship at UVA.
Outside of work, Dr. Kiff enjoys spending time with her family, running, hiking, and exploring the outdoors.

Ester Goldfeld, MD
First Year Fellow
I grew up in Brooklyn, New York and attended Duke University for undergraduate studies, where I also played varsity tennis. I then completed a Master of Science at Tulane University in Cell and Molecular Biology, followed by medical school at the University of Pittsburgh. I have wanted to become a gynecologic oncologist since before starting medical school and am so excited to be staying at UVA as a double Hoo!
Charlottesville and UVA have been such an incredible landing ground for my husband and I, especially with the birth of our daughter, Sophie. I can’t wait to see what the next three years will bring!

Valerie Mann Peterson, MD
University of North Carolina
Dr. Peterson grew up in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and attended Lafayette College, where she majored in Neuroscience and was a member of DC Posse 8. After graduation, she completed a two-year Post-Bac at National Institutes of Health before earning her medical degree at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. She completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at University of North Carolina before moving to Charlottesville for gynecologic oncology fellowship at University of Virginia. Her passions include patient-centered care, quality improvement, and health equity. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Peterson is a true foodie and world traveler who loves travel and is truly up for any new adventure, is convinced a house can never have too many plants, and is excited to embark on this new adventure with her husband, Aaron, and their dog, Snoots.
