The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Virginia is committed to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion at every level within our organization. We are excited to offer a scholarships in the amount of $1,500 to support medical students interested in completing a visiting elective at our institution. These scholarships support our commitment to expanding access to educational opportunities and ensuring that our learning and working environments are inclusive in serving all people. Funds may be used for travel, housing, and expenses associated with the 4 weeks long rotation in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Qualified students must be in their 4th year of medical school with plans to apply for a residency position in Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery. To be considered for the scholarship, students must first submit a separate application for a visiting student elective at the University of Virginia through the VSLO (Visiting Student Learning Opportunities) program.

Scholarship applications must include a brief (less than 1 page) letter of interest, an updated CV, and a letter of recommendation. All submitted documents will be reviewed by Dr. Ariana Greenwell, Medical Clerkship Director.
