Crampton Lecture Series
The Richard Savington Crampton Visiting Lectureship in Cardiovascular Medicine
Richard Savington Crampton, FACC, FAHA, FACP, born in Norwalk, Connecticut, on September 29, 1931, attended Princeton and received his medical degree from the University of Virginia in 1956. After training at St. Luke’s, New York, and St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, he worked at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital; St. Luke’s Hospital Center, New York; and Columbia University. In 1969, he joined the faculty at the University of Virginia and became Professor of Medicine in 1975 and Faculty Fellow at Brown College at Monroe Hill in 1986.
At UVa, he directed the prehospital and hospital Coronary Care System, Heart Station, and Stress Lab. He served on the Emergency Medical Services Committee of the National Academy of Sciences and National Research Council. He cofounded the international long QT registry. He served on the Ethics Consultation Service from 1987 to 1990. He was appointed Professor Emeritus and Clinical Professor in 2000. He considers his greatest honor the J.E. Wood Teaching Award from the Fellows of the Cardiovascular Division at UVa.

Grollman Lecture Series
The Marjorie and Jaye Grollman Visiting Lectureship in Cardiology
Dr. Jaye Grollman (1909-1986) received his M.D. degree from the University of Maryland and training in obstetrics and gynecology at Baltimore City Hospital and the University of Nebraska, respectively. He then undertook basic endocrinology research in collaboration with his brother, Dr. Arthur Grollman, at Johns Hopkins. He subsequently started a private practice in OB-GYN in Washington, D.C., where he was on the staff of the Washington Hospital Center. Forty-five years later, he retired to a second career in farming in Gordonsville, Va.
Marjorie Grollman received her B.S. degree from the University of Maryland in 1941. She then underwent dietetic training at the University of Maryland, after which she served as a nutritionist at the Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore.
