Residency Program

Dr. Nielsen, Dr. Garada, Dr. Karp and Dr. McCain

Unlike Medicine, graduates of an accredited School of Dentistry are not required to complete post-graduation residency programs to practice Dentistry.  Any such program is elective.  The University of Virginia Health System has a 1-2 year General Practice Dental Residency for graduates of dental schools, designed to allow them to expand their clinical knowledge and learn more about treating medically compromised patients.  Our residents comprise part of our clinical staff.
