Supplemental Training Experiences

We offer several specialized training tracks to which residents can apply for their intern year:

  • Global Health Leadership Track (GHLT) provides opportunities for international research and clinical electives across a variety of international sites, as well as didactic education in health disparities and advocacy
  • Clinical Educator Track (CE track) provides a strong foundation in principles of medical education, observed feedback in improving residents’ teaching in various educational settings, and mentorship in medical education careers.
  • Clinical Investigator Track (CI track) allows a resident to earn a master’s degree in clinical research during the second year of residency and to start development as a leader in basic or clinical research.
  • Leadership in Patient Safety and QI Track (PS-QI track) provides a resident with unique clinical rotations, mentored leadership in ongoing quality improvement teams and projects, and incorporation into hospital medicine journal clubs to jumpstart a career in inpatient medicine with a focus on preparation for clinical leadership roles or academic work in quality improvement.
  • Health Equity, Advocacy, and Leadership (H.E.A.L) Track allows residents to develop advocacy skills for populations facing systemic social and health inequities.
  • HIV Primary Care Track: provides residents with a training experience that focuses on delivering comprehensive HIV care while addressing the unique needs of vulnerable and stigmatized patients, preparing them for careers in HIV medicine, and equipping them with the skills to care for medically complex patient populations and advocate for holistic care. Also, the residents will become a part of the Ryan White HIV Clinic team, which will provide the opportunity to deliver care collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
