John Lukens Appointed to Direct UVA Harrison Family Translational Research Center in Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases

May 2024 – Congratulations to John Lukens, PhD, who has been appointed as the inaugural Director of the University of Virginia’s Harrison Family Translational Research Center in Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases! Dr. Lukens has been part of the UVA School of Medicine’s Department of Neuroscience since 2014. In that time, he has conducted groundbreaking research charting the crucial role of the immune system in brain injury and neurodegenerative disorders and is widely known for his innovative work in opening new frontiers in the fight against neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s.
