Class of 2026

Ryan Farias, MD
Third Year Fellow
Dr. Farias grew up in Brookfield, Connecticut, and attended Cornell University for undergrad, majoring in Chemistry. He attended medical school and completed his OB/GYN residency training at the University of Connecticut. He is excited to continue his training here in Virginia. Dr. Farias research interests include preterm birth, diabetes, and management of cardiac disease in pregnancy. In his free time, he likes to golf, play video games, bike, and spend time with his wife.

Adam Schettler, MD
Second Year Fellow
Dr. Schettler grew up in Northwestern Pennsylvania and went to college at Penn State. After college he worked for a few years in Washington, DC and then served 5 years in the US Army. After leaving the Army, he came to UVA for medical school and loved it.
Adam Schettler, MD stated, “I was extremely lucky to stay for residency and am very excited to be the next MFM fellow! I’m married with two children.”
Class of 2028

Diane Fru, MD
First Year Fellow
Dr. Fru was born in Cameroon; she migrated to the United States at a young age and grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. Dr. Fru pursued her undergraduate studies at Iowa State University, where her passion for global engagement led her to Taiwan for a year as a Fulbright fellow, teaching English.
She then attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine-Peoria for her medical degree, where she developed a strong interest in maternal and child health. Currently completing her residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Dr. Fru is dedicated to research focusing on risk factors for preterm delivery and addressing racial disparities in maternal mortality.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Fru enjoys watching movies, playing basketball, and spending quality time with her family. Her diverse background and commitment to global health continue to shape her approach to medicine and community service.

Andrew Friski, MD
First Year Fellow
Dr. Friski was born in Lexington, Virginia. He majored in Biochemistry at Washington and Lee University. He then graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. He is a commander in the United States Navy and has practiced obstetrics and gynecology within the United States, overseas, and on the USS Comfort on humanitarian missions to Central and South America. He joins UVA from Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, where he served as the Associate Program Director for the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency and Medical Director of Labor and Delivery. His proudest professional accomplishment thus far is being a multi-year recipient of the residency teaching award. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, running, strength training, learning to play the piano, and reading fantasy literature.

Stephanie Masters, MD
Virginia Tech Carilion
Dr. Stephanie Masters grew up in Northern Virginia and completed her undergraduate studies in biology at James Madison University. She went on to attend medical school and residency training at Virginia Tech Carilion in Roanoke, VA. As a proud Virginia native, she is excited to continue her training at the University of Virginia.
Her research interests include advancing imaging modalities and applying artificial intelligence to improve the accuracy of fetal weight estimation. She is also passionate about quality improvement, with a particular focus on optimizing protocols for postpartum hemorrhage.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Masters enjoys hiking and road biking, exploring diverse cuisines, reading, and spending time with her family and husband.
