Education
The Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery is not only invested in training future ENT surgeons, but future physicians as well. Our faculty are directly involved in Undergraduate Medical Education, providing lectures and hands on cadaver labs to the medical students here at the UVA School of Medicine. The residents lead medical training sessions for Emergency Medicine and other surgical specialties to provide them with valuable skills and techniques to provide higher quality care to their patients. Joint conferences are hosted by ENT-Facial Plastic and Plastic Surgery to share knowledge, techniques, and learn about new advances in the field. Every year, the annual Fitz-Hugh Symposium is a 2-day conference dedicated to providing ENT didactic lectures to educate not just ENT surgeons, but even primary care providers. Providing high quality education is one of our top priorities, and resident education is no exception. Training phenomenal surgeons and physicians is at the core of who we are, and resident education takes center stage in everything that we do.
