Salary

The stipend for trainees is based upon the appropriate Post Graduate Year (PGY) in the appointed training program, according to the minimum number of years required for specialty or subspecialty Board certification.

Vacation

  • All residents are entitled to 3 weeks of vacation per 12 month period.
  • Time away from the residency program for educational purposes, such as workshops, or continuing medical education activities, up to 5 days annually, is not counted in the general limitation on absences.

Plastic Surgery Resident Research, Courses, Travel and Educational Support

Our Plastic Surgery Department offers Off-Site Educational Courses, Meetings, and Travel 

All residents are encouraged to attend one course per year and present at local and national meetings.

  • PGY 1 and PGY 2 residents are provided reimbursements up to $3000.00 per year for courses and presentation travel.
  • PGY3-PGY 6 residents are provided reimbursements up to $5000.00 per year for travel to courses, meetings and presentations.

Residents are able to choose from a variety of courses as well as meetings. Some suggested courses are:

  • PGY 6 – Senior Residents Conference
  • PGY 5 – Flap Course (August/October)
  • PGY 4 – ASMS Basic Craniomaxillofacial Course (August) or ORC
  • PGY 3 – AO Hand Course
  • PGY 2 – Plastic Surgery Research Council or ACEPS Winter Meeting
  • PGY 1 – ACEPS/ASPS Resident Bootcamp

In addition each plastic surgery resident may be reimbursed for educational expenses up to $5000.00 over the six years of residency training. This money may be used for loupes, study guides, or exam costs approved by the program.

Dental Resident Travel and Course Support

PGY 1 Dental Residents

Each PGY 1 resident will be supported to attend one dental educational course each year with the approval from the education team.

In addition all PGY 1 residents will receive $1500.00 per year in reimbursement to cover travel, hotel, and registration for a conference or educational materials deemed necessary by the education team.

PGY 2 Dental Residents

Each PGY 2 resident will be supported to attend one dental educational course each year with the approval from the education team.

In addition all PGY 2 residents will receive $500.00 per year in reimbursement to cover travel, hotel and registration for a conference or educational materials deemed necessary by the education team.
