Adult Reconstruction

The Division of Adult Reconstruction at The University of Virginia is committed to the evaluation and treatment of patients in the Commonwealth and beyond who are suffering from arthritic conditions of the hip and knee.

Foot and Ankle

The University of Virginia Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is one of only a few centers in the United States with three Foot and Ankle Fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeons on faculty. As Orthopaedic Surgeons, we utilize our extensive training and understanding of the entire musculoskeletal system to provide integrated, comprehensive care for a wide spectrum of disorders of the lower extremity.

Hand and Upper Extremity

The University of Virginia Hand Division is a comprehensive multifaceted medical facility dedicated to the care of the hand and upper extremity.  Located in Charlottesville, Virginia, the UVA Hand Center is a unique collaboration between the Departments of Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery.  We specialize in all disorders of the hand, wrist, and elbow and treat a wide spectrum of disorders  from carpal  tunnel syndrome and arthritis to complex fractures, sports injuries, neurovascular injuries, and congenital hand differences.

Pediatrics

The Division of Pediatric Orthopaedics has a core mission of providing expert specialty care to neonates, children and adolescents with problems involving the musculoskeletal system. These problems can include spinal deformities such as scoliosis, fractures and other injuries, limb deformities of a congenital nature or occurring from abnormal growth; as well as derangements produced by chronic conditions such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophies and other conditions affecting the neuro-muscular system.

Prosthetics and Orthotics

The University of Virginia Prosthetics and Orthotics’ goal is to provide the best possible Prosthetic and Orthotic care to our patients in a timely and efficient manner and to provide the most technically up to date Prosthetic and Orthotic care to our patients with careful consideration given to their personal needs.

Spine

The UVA Division of Orthopaedic Spine Surgery provides a unique comprehensive spine program focused on patient care research and education ranging from pediatric age to the elderly. At UVA you will be assessed by our spine specialist who will evaluate your condition and will discuss all possible options; always starting with conservative treatment as the first line of treatment.

Sports

The University of Virginia Sports Medicine team takes care of athletes and non-athletes of all ages and activity levels.  Our fellowship trained surgeons treat all types of injuries and conditions of the shoulder, hip and knee. We also are proud to be team physicians for UVA and James Madison University athletics as well as a number of local high school teams.

Trauma and Oncology

The Orthopaedic Trauma and Oncology Division at UVA focuses on evaluation and treatment of injuries of the pelvis, leg, ankle, foot, and shoulder region. We provide state-of-the-art care for fresh fractures, and can perform a variety of sophisticated treatments for fractures that have not healed, or have not healed well.
