Visiting Senior Medical Student Rotations
Overview
Candidates interested in plastic surgery are strongly encouraged to arrange a preceptorship early in their fourth year of medical school.
We welcome all interested 4th year medical students to join our department for 4-week rotations in Plastic Surgery. You will see first-hand the benefits of our apprentice style of graduate medical education and be exposed to the breadth of our specialty. Each student will have the opportunity to work with all available faculty with exposure to all practice aspects including outpatient clinic, inpatient care, emergency room consultations, and the operating room. The goals of this rotation include learning the principles of wound care, general reconstruction, oncologic reconstruction, hand surgery, craniofacial surgery, and acquisition of wound closure techniques. Each student will have to opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and research ability by presenting to our department at the conclusion of your rotation. We strongly encourage pursuing this opportunity as an applicant to our program.
