Safe Space Training

As you know, one goal of qMD is to increase the awareness and skills of our classmates with respect to LGBTQ health issues. One of the recommendations we made to the Curriculum Committee was to offer Safe Space training during the transition course before M3 starts. And now, I’m excited to report that we have support to include this!!
As such, we will be piloting the standard Safe Space training offered by the university.  I would like to solicit your feedback and suggestions afterwards so that we can customize the training for medical students and provide a relevant and engaging course this February to SMD17.
It is very important that we have students from all years, but particularly from M3/M4, since they will have had more patient care experience. Similarly, I would like to invite any residents, faculty, or other health systems affiliates to participate in the pilot training.
The training is currently scheduled for 5-8 PM, on Thursday October 23rd. Dinner will be provided. The course takes 2.5 hours and we will use the last half hour to solicit feedback on the course and on potential customizations.
Please indicate your interest on the linked form. We are looking for 20-30 participants, but can expand if there is more interest!
Your UVA username will be recorded, but the form results will not be visible to the wider UVA community. I am first extending the invitation to qMD, and then will open it up to the entire SMD community.
All the best, David
