Xiaowei Hu, PhD, a Research Scientist in Ani Manichaikul’s lab at the Center for Public Health Genomics, was awarded a TOPMed Fellowship for 2024. Dr Hu’s project is entitled, “Pathway-enriched polygenic transcriptome risk prediction for COPD leveraging disease relevant transcriptomes from TOPMed”.

The Trans-Omics for Precision Medicine (TOPMed) Fellowship aims to further the goals of the TOPMed program by providing salary support for projects conducted by trainees or early-stage investigators. Each application that met the submission criteria was reviewed by three experts in the field and assigned scores, which served as one component of the decision process for support. A secondary evaluation of the best-scoring applications was conducted and final determinations for funding were made by the NHLBI.

Congratulations Dr Hu!
