Siddharth Narendran, MD

Congratulations to Siddharth Narendran, MD, a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Center for Advanced Vision Sciences (CAVS), on being honored to present his work at the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB) Resident and Fellow Research Forum. Founded in 1966, AUPO’s mission is the promotion of medical education, research, and patient care in ophthalmology. Narendran’s research includes the role of inflammasomes in ocular diseases and diabetic retinopathy.

According to AUPO, the RPB forum “acknowledges the importance of research in ophthalmic education and is intended to encourage the most promising house officers to pursue a career in academic ophthalmology and vision research. Through this forum AUPO promotes excellence in research by residents and fellows and identifies and supports individuals considering a career in ophthalmic research. Each year, AUPO schedules a session for the Forum as an integral part of the annual meeting.”

When asked how he felt about presenting at this prestigious forum, Narendran said, “It is an honour to present in the AUPO/RPB Resident and Fellow Research Forum. I am thrilled to be selected by AUPO, an organization which serves as the voice of academic ophthalmology.”

Dr. Narendran is grateful to mentor Jayakrishna Ambati, MD, Professor & Vice Chair for Research of Ophthalmology, founding Director of CAVS, “for inspiring me and guiding me in my research.”

Narendran will present his work at the annual meeting in Rancho Mirage, Calif., in January.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Narendran!
