TENURED/TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION IN PHYSIOLOGY

(ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE, FULL PROFESSOR)

The Department of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics at the University of Virginia invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position in Physiology. Applicants with expertise in organellar and membrane biology are particularly encouraged to apply. The Department seeks to expand its strengths in physiology, cell biology, cardiovascular, structural, membrane and chemical biology towards molecular physiology and organellar biology. The new hire is expected to leverage current strengths of the departmentin Physiology and Biophysics to develop a strong independent, interdisciplinary, research program to solve fundamental biomedical problems.

Applicants are expected to be highly collaborative and integrate well with a growing number of researchers and physician scientists in basic and clinical departments of the UVA School of Medicine. Applicants will be considered for either an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. Tenure status and rank of the position depends on qualifications. Highly competitive start-up packages will be offered.

Successful applicants will have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, are highly creative, and must have demonstrated exceptional scholarly success in their field. Demonstration of sustained grant support is required for appointments at a mid-career or senior rank.

TENURED/TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION in Cryo Electron Microscopy/Tomography

(ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE, FULL PROFESSOR)

The Department of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics at the University of Virginia invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position in cryo electron microscopy. Applicants with expertise in cryo electron tomography are particularly encouraged to apply. The Department seeks to expand its strengths in structural, cardiovascular, cancer, membrane and chemical biology towards high resolution cryo electron microscopy/tomography of molecular complexes and cellular structures in situ. The Department is closely affiliated with UVA’s Molecular Electron Microscopy Core facility providing access to state-of-the art cryo-EM resources (Titan Krios and Glacios with Gatan K3 and Falcon 4 direct electron detectors, respectively, and F20 with CMOS camera). An Aquilos-2 cryo focused ion beam scanning electron microscope (cryo FIB-SEM) will be installed in the Fall 2023.
