Keynote Lecture Series

The UVA Radiology Keynote Lecture Series brings experts and thought leaders from across the globe to the department for lectures and discussions on major topics in radiology and medicine.

These lectures are designed to provide unique insights, stimulate discussion and offer critical resources for further learning. Keynote Lectures are open to the entire UVA Health community as well as radiologists and care providers across the world.

Homecoming Alumni Lecture

The Keats Society funds an alumni lecture for residents and faculty during the Keats Society Homecoming. This talk can include a range of topics, usually related to post-graduate career opportunities and experiences.

Tegtmeyer Lecture Series

Established in 2009, the Tegtmeyer Endowed Lectureship provides financial support for an annual lecture in the field of Interventional Radiology. The Lectureship also supports scholarly activities for trainees including meetings and educational courses, as well as initiatives to advance the field.

Education Retreat

In 2024, the UVA Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging hosted its first-ever Education Retreat. The full-day event is a chance for faculty, trainees, and staff to discuss the education mission of the department.

The inaugural retreat was facilitated by Andrew Wicks, PhD, Ruffin Professor of Business Administration at the Darden School of Business. Dr. Wicks also delivered the keynote lecture, which is available for viewing below.

Visiting Professor Lectures

On occasion, UVA Radiology invites lecturers to speak on a variety of topics during events that are not part of a specific program. These visits offer additional opportunities for trainees, faculty members, and staff members to learn more about the field.

Mechanics of Academics

Mechanics of Academics is a series of presentations designed to help UVA Radiology faculty and trainees at all stages of their careers develop building blocks for academic and professional growth. They are delivered by faculty members and experts in the Radiology department and across UVA Health. Though some presentations are specifically focused on navigating aspects of a career in radiology, many are applicable to physicians working in any department or discipline.

Academic Writing Workshops

As part of UVA Radiology’s Career and Professional Development resources, the department provides both one-on-one and small seminar writing groups to assist, edit, and train faculty in study conception as well as manuscript preparation and reviewing.
