Dr. Villines is part of a multidisciplinary research program that aims to assess the relationship between coronary atherosclerosis as visualized by coronary CT angiography (CCTA) and coronary artery calcium scans and its progression to clinical and patient-oriented outcomes. He collaborates with the UVA iPRIME program to lead the coronary CTA evaluation lab and CCTA cohort in studying the relationship between coronary artery disease and disease progression to immune system function. Dr. Villines has been an integral part and leader of several large-scale international studies of cardiovascular CT and imaging guidelines and is exploring the development of a UVA coronary atherosclerosis imaging core lab.
