2015: Andy Starr

Andy Starr is currently an intern in the Internal Medicine Residency program at UVA in the Primary Care Track. His career trajectory has been somewhat different than that of the average MD. In undergrad he studied classical music performance at the Hartt School of Music in West Hartford, CT. Then after working as a professional musician for a couple of years decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Acupuncture at the Maryland University of Integrative Health in Laurel, MD where he met his wife, Naomi. After graduation Naomi and Andy moved to NYC and opened a private acupuncture practice in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. Andy was excited to be seeing patients in his capacity as acupuncturist, but soon realized that he wanted to be able to offer a much broader scope of medical services to his patients and decided that he wanted to pursue a medical degree. Andy earned his MD from the UVA School of Medicine in May of 2015. Naomi and Andy currently live in Batesville, VA with their two daughter’s Sophia (3) and Rachael (2) and Naomi’s father, Jerry.
