Congratulations Scott Yeudall: SfRBM Young Investigators Award

Scott received a Young Investigator Award at the recent joint meeting of the Society for Redox Biology and Medicine and Society for Free Radical Research International (SfRBM-SFRRI) held November 15-18 in Punta Del Este, Uruguay. His abstract, titled “Inhibition of the glycolytic regulator PFKFB3 in macrophages attenuates heme-induced inflammation via NF-kB in hemolysis and sickle cell disease,” was also selected as one of the featured poster presentations at the meeting. Scott completed his PhD in the Leitinger Lab in May of 2022 as part of the UVA Medical Scientist Training Program, and is currently a fourth-year medical student applying to residency in internal medicine.

He was also the recipient of the Ted W. Rall award, which recognizes an outstanding publication by a Pharmacology Graduate Student. His winning publication was titled: “Macrophage acetyl-CoA carboxylase regulates acute inflammation through control of glucose and lipid metabolism” published in Science Advances (2022: Volume 8, Issue 47)
