Dr. Jeanita Richardson and Jackie Martin (Director of Community Outreach, Sentara & Candidate MPH, UVA ) collaborated with local pastors and volunteers to host Your Life Matters COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics that to-date have vaccinated over 1,200 persons of color. The initiative, its recommendations and replicable processes for community-centered approaches specifically address vaccine inequities and hesitancy and have been documented in a white paper that was submitted to the Virginia Commissioner of Health and the Governor’s Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion officer.
Dr. Richardson also recently hosted a virtual town hall meeting with clinical experts and community leaders to discuss the J&J vaccine pause and other concerns.
