Undergraduate Educational Programs

About

In addition to the two graduate degree programs, the UVA Department of Public Health Sciences collaborates with other schools for undergraduate programs. One of those is the Global Health Track through Arts & Sciences.

Public Health Sciences offers a 4+1 MPH Program and students may join the 4+1 Program from any major enrolled full-time at the University of Virginia. Click below for more information on additional educational programs available to select students in the University.

COLLABORATIVE DEGREE PROGRAMS:

Global Studies Major

The Public Health Sciences Department directs the Global Public Health Track, one of five tracks in Global Studies, a pan-University undergraduate program and application-based major in the College of Arts & Sciences. For more information about the undergraduate Global Studies Major, see Global Studies.

Human Biology Major

The interdisciplinary Distinguished Majors Program in Human Biology was created for the purpose of allowing students the opportunity to examine and appreciate the extraordinary interplay between modern biology and society.  The Department of Public Health Sciences partners with the Department of Biology, which administers the program, in providing research and health policy courses and in advising undergraduate students in the program.  Faculty from the College of Arts and Sciences, the Institute for Practical Ethics, the Center for Global Health, the Law School, and the Medical School play significant roles in facilitating student research projects and participating in the 4th year capstone series.  DPHS Chair Ruth Gaare Bernheim is on the Human Biology Faculty Advisory Board.
