Aqiyl Mills, MD
Surgery Resident
Medical School: Florida International University
Hey everyone! My name is Aqiyl Mills, and I’m originally from the beautiful Caribbean twin-island federation of St. Kitts and Nevis where I was raised and spent most of my life before moving to the US. I attended Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL for my undergraduate studies and decided to stay in sunny South Florida for medical school at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in Miami, FL.
Having had the amazing opportunity to spend a month at UVA for an away rotation, I was able to see how collaborative, supportive, and friendly the faculty and residents are. It is a tremendous honor to be able to begin my surgical training here in such an encouraging environment surrounded by exceptional faculty and surgeons. I am currently interested in vascular surgery. Outside of medicine, I have a passion for hiking, drawing, playing basketball, running, weightlifting and cars!
