Interview Selection

We welcome applications from candidates from various backgrounds, consistent with our core values of diversity and inclusiveness. We consider every candidate on the applicant’s individual merits. Outstanding International Medical Graduate candidates will be considered. We have de-emphasized USMLE scores over the past 3 years, and we do not use any cut-off score to consider an applicant. We are looking for candidates who are a good-fit for our program based on: grades, letters of recommendation, research and scholarly activity, leadership, extracurricular activities, and unique qualities/skills. We try to balance our interview pool to ensure a diverse pool of applicants.

Applications are reviewed by a committee of faculty and residents. We offer 32 interview slots to be conducted over the dates offered above.

During the interviews, applicants are evaluated by each interviewer using a standardized template assessing the following criteria:

  1. Academic performance including grades, Dean’s Letter, awards, AOA, and class rank (if available)
  2. Letters of recommendation
  3. Interview and interpersonal skills
  4. Research and Scholarly activity
  5. Extracurricular activities and accomplishments
  6. Personal statement
  7. USMLE scores
