Philip I. Chow Ph.D.

Phil ChowDr. Chow is an Associate Professor at the Center for Behavioral Health & Technology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia. His research interest includes the use of mobile technology in monitoring and alleviating distress for various health issues.  He has particular interest in how mobile technology can be used to increase access and reach to vulnerable populations. In addition to mobile health research, Dr. Chow has expertise in the fields of emotion and personality traits.

Dr. Chow obtained his B.A. in Psychology at Cornell University, his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and did his clinical internship at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine. He completed postdoctoral training in the UVA Department of Psychology and is a 2016 NIH mHealth Training Institute Scholar. When not working, he is busy trying to keep up with his infant daughter and two dogs. He loves taking his canoe to the lake and enjoys the many natural wonders that central Virginia has to offer.
