Jaclyn A. Shepard obtained her Psy.D. in clinical psychology in 2009 from the American School of Professional Psychology/Washington, D.C. She completed her predoctoral residency in Pediatric Behavioral Medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine/Holtz Children’s Hospital and then a 2-year fellowship in Behavioral Medicine at the University of Virginia Health System. Dr. Shepard is now an Assistant Professor in the Behavioral Medicine Center at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Her research and scholarly interests focus on the psychobehavioral factors and use of technology in the management of pediatric chronic illness, including type 1 diabetes, asthma, and gastrointestinal disorders. Clinically, she provides specialized evaluations and outpatient psychotherapy for youth with chronic medical conditions.
Dr. Shepard earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Although she still has an affinity for Colonials basketball (G-Dub!), she admittedly is a Duke basketball fanatic. In her free time, she is a photography enthusiast and loves spending time with her family.
