From April 4 through April 6, a UVA team made the trip to Virginia Beach in order to recruit the Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging’s future members.
Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor Robert Hunsberger, OR Imaging Supervisor Samantha Shoemaker, Senior Recruiter Kim Weirich, and Cardiac Catheterization Lab Nurse Manager Jennifer Killmer tabled at the 2024 Student, Educator, & Technologist Seminar, hosted by the Virginia Society of Radiologic Technologists. They spoke about opportunities for radiological technologists at UVA Health, as well as their own experiences working at the top-ranked medical center in Virginia.
Meanwhile, the future looks bright for UVA! During the VSRT’s Student Bowl, students from Piedmont Virginia Community College’s Radiography Program nabbed 1st place out of 17 teams. That team included future UVA technologists Owen Babineau and Kari Burkholder, along with their classmates Zander Aylor and Amy Simmons.
