Ashley Williams, MD

Surgery Resident
Medical School: University of South Florida

Hi! I’m Ashley, I was born in Hong Kong but grew up in Northern Virginia. I followed in my parent’s footsteps and went to UVA for undergrad, where I completed the Distinguished Majors Program in Human Biology. After graduating, I spent my gap year in Charlottesville, working as a scribe and fostering dogs for the CASPCA in my free time! My partner and I also adopted our dog, Dino, from the SPCA! I attended medical school at the University of South Florida in Tampa before returning to Cville for residency.

I did an away rotation at UVA during medical school and immediately felt how different the culture was—people were genuinely kind, collaborative, and invested in creating a supportive environment.
That impression hasn’t changed. The more faculty and residents I’ve worked with, the more it confirms how special this program is, and I’m so grateful to be training alongside such amazing people. In addition to the incredible culture at UVA, the commitment to training strong academic surgeons made UVA standout, and I can’t wait to take advantage of the robust clinical and research opportunities the program has to offer.

Outside of the hospital, you can find me taking my dog (Dino) on adventures to the Lawn or checking out new restaurants (especially if good desserts are involved)!
