Hey everyone! My name is Joël Lee. I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO, with a rich background rooted in Trinidadian and French traditions. My first stop after high school was Charlottesville, where I attended UVA as an undergraduate—an unparalleled academic experience during which I met some of my favorite people in the world. I went on to complete my graduate studies at Georgetown University (M.S., Pharmacology) and earned my medical degree from VCU School of Medicine.
Charlottesville and UVA were my home for many years, filled with incredible, lifelong memories. When I was given the opportunity to return to UVA to complete my surgical training—drawn by its legacy of exceptional technical surgeons and the chance to give back to a city that has given me so much—it was truly a no-brainer.
As an aside, I’m likely Bob Marley’s biggest fan, so if you hear his music playing in an operating room or around town, it’s probably me. Wahoowa!
