Digital Pathology

The BTRF provides high-resolution whole slide scanning, coupled with our Pathcore Flow image management system for viewing, annotation, and sharing. Visiopharm ONCOTOPIX software suite is used for automated image analysis of bright field and fluorescence slide images.

We use Hamamatsu NanoZoomer S360 for high-throughput, automated whole slide scanning for brightfield images and Hamamatsu NanoZoomer S60 for fluorescence images (Dapi, FITC, Cy3, Texas Red , Cy5 and Cy7). These components allow the BTRF to provide whole slide digital pathology image storage, web-based view-anywhere display and remote collaboration, annotation, and quantitative analysis of multi-color immunohistochemical and fluorescence images.

We also provide Visiopharm‘s AI-based tissue image analysis, an advanced AI module that extends the existing platform’s capabilities by supporting deep learning (DL) classifiers and feature generation. This module offers fully integrated, automated, and high-precision analysis for complex tissue patterns, enabling the training and classification of numerous parameters without complex coding. Unlike regular apps that rely on pre-defined rules for simpler tasks, this module uses DL to learn features from data, delivering superior accuracy and robust segmentation—such as tumor and nuclei identification—across diverse tissue types. Key advantages include accelerated GPU performance for fast training and deployment, significantly reduced manual annotation time, and seamless workflow integration within the APP authoring environment, ultimately allowing for the simultaneous handling of engineered and learned features in complex, high-multiplex analyses.
