The University of Virginia Comprehensive Cancer Center (UVACCC) shares the goals of the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute — to reduce and ultimately eliminate the burden of cancer health disparities. Diversity in the workforce helps to foster this goal while driving innovation, improved reputation, improved trust, better access to health care, and improved health care quality, compassionate, equitable, and consistent care, and helps us to deliver on our core mission. The UVACCC is taking bold steps toward enhancing DEI among leaders, trainees, faculty, and staff.

Embracing and championing diversity and inclusion within the workforce is not merely a lofty ideal; it is a cornerstone of our organization’s success, driving innovation and ushering in a host of transformative benefits. The UVA Cancer Center Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion hosted its second Women in Healthcare and Aspiring Leaders Lunch and Phenomenal Awards Presentation on March 1st, the first day of Women’s History Month. This event and Women’s History Month serve as poignant occasions to commemorate, cherish, and pay homage to women’s myriad achievements.
