Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
The University of Virginia Comprehensive Cancer Center (UVACCC) shares the goals of the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute — to reduce and ultimately eliminate the burden of cancer health disparities. Diversity in the workforce helps to foster this goal while driving innovation, improved reputation, improved trust, better access to health care, and improved health care quality, compassionate, equitable, and consistent care, and helps us to deliver on our core mission. The UVACCC is taking bold steps toward enhancing DEI among leaders, trainees, faculty, and staff.
Embracing and championing diversity and inclusion within the workforce is not merely a lofty ideal; it is a cornerstone of our organization’s success, driving innovation and ushering in a host of transformative benefits. From strengthening our reputation to enhancing trust, advancing healthcare access, improving healthcare quality, and delivering compassionate, equitable, and consistently excellent care, diversity plays a pivotal role in helping us realize our core mission. UVACCC is committed to taking resolute and proactive measures to amplify Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives across all levels of our organization, encompassing leaders, trainees, faculty, and staff. This steadfast dedication to DEI is woven into the very fabric of our institution, and it guides our mission in profound ways.
