Stay in the Game 2023Stay in the Game—Cancer Conversations for Men. Join fellow men for a free breakfast, coffee, and real talk about prostate cancer and the impact it is having on Black men in Charlottesville. Featuring Tracy Downs, MD, FACS, Urologist, UVA Health. Everyone who attends will receive breakfast, a small gift and a chance to be entered into a raffle for one of 2 UVA sports packages.

Open to men of all ages – experience with cancer not required.

Free Skin Cancer Screening Event for Shenandoah Employees @ Shenandoah NPS Headquarters

Thursday, August 15th, the National Park Service (NPS), Forefront Dermatology of Fishersville, and UVA OCOE will host a free skin cancer screening event for Shenandoah National Park employees. Forefront Dermatology of Fishersville will provide free skin cancer screenings, while UVA COE will be onsite for cancer screening navigation services and information. Shenandoah NPS Headquarters, from 9-noon and then 1-3 pm.

The Sunbeatables program begins a 16-course at Buena Vista City Public Schools- FW Kling ES on August 27, 2024.

The University of Virginia’s Comprehensive Cancer Center works with school programs to implement Ray and the Sunbeatables®: A Sun Safety Curriculum. This free, evidence-based curriculum educates children, parents, and teachers about sun protection and promotes sun safety behaviors to reduce children’s lifetime risk of developing skin cancer. The curriculum was developed by the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
