Please join Aimee Strong, DNP, AGACNP-BC on November 8, 2023 from 12-1pm for the next webinar on the Lung Cancer Screening Landscape. Dr. Strong has worked as both a RN and NP at UVA since 1995. She worked at Centra Health in Thoracic Surgery from 2015-2019 where she developed and led the first lung cancer screening program for Central and Southside Virginia. Aimee returned to UVA in 2019 to lead the Lung Cancer Screening Program. At both Centra and UVA, patient and provider outreach has been an important aspect of Aimee’s work to grow lung cancer screening in Virginia. In addition to working in the Lung Cancer Screening Program, Aimee also works in Thoracic Surgery where she cares for patient with Lung Cancer, Esophageal cancer, and benign thoracic diseases. Her other clinical interests include smoking cessation, incidental pulmonary nodule management, and health promotion/disease prevention. Aimee received her Bachelor’s in Nursing from VCU, her Master’s in Nursing from UVA, and her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from ODU. Aimee resides with her husband, Bill, in Nelson County Virginia, gleefully enjoying their empty nest.

Kickoff for the Dan River Region Cancer Task Force Meeting. Re-establishing the focus of the task force and future mission.
The event intends to provide a one stop shop of various types of resources (including health) for community members, specifically community members that have been previously incarcerated.
Resource fair for community population re-entering society. Numerous community partners will be participating.
Providing cancer screening navigation services with monthly educational focus on certain cancer types and/or cancer prevention information.
