John C. Mason, MDGeneral Otolaryngology

John Currie Mason, MD, cares for patients with diseases and disorders of the ear, including hearing loss, chronic infections and trauma. He is a faculty member in the UVA Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, president of the Virginia Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and is involved in many hospital committees.

Originally from Wilmington, North Carolina, Mason received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 1992, he moved to Charlottesville, where he completed an internship and residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery and a fellowship in neurotology at UVA.

Mason is married with three children and is actively involved in his children’s school as a member of the Committee for Legal and Community Affairs. He has traveled to the Dominican Republic for mission work in years past. In his free time, Mason also enjoys running, reading, water skiing and spending time with his family.
