Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship
Overview
The mission of the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship is to train competent physicians in the provision of compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care to all adult patients who are experiencing psychiatric symptoms directly due to medical illness or in conjunction with medical illness. This mission will include an emphasis on the ability to liaise effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, colleagues in other specialties, and community resources in and around a large, complex health system. The program will empower fellows with the clinical knowledge, critical thinking skills, passion for lifelong learning for high quality patient care, and instill them with the confidence and skills to manage complex medical illness in a way that fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, compassion, and justice. These align with University of Virginia Health’s ASPIRE mission of accountability, stewardship, professionalism, integrity, respect, and equity.

CL Fellowship Team
The Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship aims to reach its mission by providing fellows opportunities to care for the entire spectrum of medical illness – from chronic outpatient to critically ill patients. There are electives that push the fellows to learn the perspectives of different patient populations. Fellows will be encouraged to integrate their clinical pharmacology skills and psychology skills for management of these patient populations.
UVA Health affords fellows with ample research opportunities to be involved in development and application of innovative clinical advancement for optimal patient care.
