Post Residency Paths
Our graduates move on to a number of different careers or subspecialty training tracks, including fellowship training; academic careers with teaching, research, clinical, and administrative roles; private sector clinical and administrative careers; and private practice including solo, group, and telepsychiatry practice. Many of our residents come to UVA with the intent of either fast-tracking into the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship after their PGY3 year, or continuing training in the Geriatric or Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship after their PGY4 year.
