This webinar will be presented by Mark Russell, MD. Dr. Russell is a Professor of Dermatology, Otolaryngology, and Pathology and Director of Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery at UVA. The University of Virginia School of Medicine and School of Nursing designates this live webinar for 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. This event is open to those agencies/organizations/coalitions/Veteran Owned Businesses who serve veterans and their families in Far SW Virginia/East Tennessee/Eastern Kentucky. The Far SW Veteran’s Coalition is presenting this event in an effort to provide information about a variety of resources to Veterans and their families in Far SW Virginia/East Tennessee/Eastern Kentucky.

Thursday, August 15th, the National Park Service (NPS), Forefront Dermatology of Fishersville, and UVA OCOE will host a free skin cancer screening event for Shenandoah National Park employees. Forefront Dermatology of Fishersville will provide free skin cancer screenings, while UVA COE will be onsite for cancer screening navigation services and information. Shenandoah NPS Headquarters, from 9-noon and then 1-3 pm.
The Sunbeatables program begins a 16-course at Buena Vista City Public Schools- FW Kling ES on August 27, 2024.
The University of Virginia’s Comprehensive Cancer Center works with school programs to implement Ray and the Sunbeatables®: A Sun Safety Curriculum. This free, evidence-based curriculum educates children, parents, and teachers about sun protection and promotes sun safety behaviors to reduce children’s lifetime risk of developing skin cancer. The curriculum was developed by the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
