The Eliminate Tobacco Use Initiative convenes an annual summit addressing the key areas of policy, prevention/education and cessation. The Eliminate Tobacco Use Summit creates a collaborative environment for institutions of higher education, along with key stakeholders at the state and national level to share best practices and increase their network and community of support.

The Virginia Summit will be held in person at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden (1800 Lakeside Ave. Richmond, VA 23228).

    • Details: Over the course of the FamHealth Project, the students have refined their messages to resonate with six target groups. Using engaging videos, they will depict common scenarios students and community members face, providing practical guidance in navigating these challenges. (See Flyer for more details)

Join us to learn about the latest skin cancer screening information including guidelines, best practices, issues, and policies with a focus on interventions that can reduce barriers to cancer screening. This webinar will be presented by Mark Russell, MD. Dr. Russell is a Professor of Dermatology, Otolaryngology, and Pathology and Director of Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery at UVA. The University of Virginia School of Medicine and School of Nursing designates this live webinar for 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. This webinar is the last webinar of our 2024 Cancer Screening Landscape webinar series.

UVA Skin Screening Day @ UVA Dermatology

Get a free skin cancer screening by a UVA Health dermatologist and learn how to protect yourself and your family from skin cancer.
You should get screened if you:
– Are frequently exposed to the sun and UV light
– Have a family history of skin cancer
– Have a mole that has changed in shape, color or size or a sore that won’t heal
To sign up, call 855.977.3756 and mention the free screening.
Parking is always free for patients in the 11th Street Garage.
You can also bring a baseball cap or visor to exchange for a new sun hat, while supplies last!

Free Skin Cancer Screening Event for Shenandoah Employees @ Shenandoah NPS Headquarters

Thursday, August 15th, the National Park Service (NPS), Forefront Dermatology of Fishersville, and UVA OCOE will host a free skin cancer screening event for Shenandoah National Park employees. Forefront Dermatology of Fishersville will provide free skin cancer screenings, while UVA COE will be onsite for cancer screening navigation services and information. Shenandoah NPS Headquarters, from 9-noon and then 1-3 pm.
