The Cancer Screening Landscape webinar series is a 6 webinar series offered in a live webinar format scheduled every other month on the second Wednesday of the month from 12-1pm. The live opportunity offers the opportunity to ask questions of the Subject Matter Expert (SME) as well as dialogue with colleagues about the cancer and cancer screening landscape. 1 Continuing Education credit will be awarded for each webinar attended.
The desired outcomes of this series are:
- Develop competencies to communicate cancer screening awareness and patient education effectively.
- Describe best practices to determine appropriate testing for individuals that meet guidelines for cancer screening.
- Explain existing and emerging issues, policies, and barriers to optimizing cancer screening.
The Cervical Cancer Screening Landscape webinar is currently in development with the UVA Medical Education team and information should be available soon.
Join us to learn about the latest skin cancer screening information including guidelines, best practices, issues, and policies with a focus on interventions that can reduce barriers to cancer screening. This webinar will be presented by Mark Russell, MD. Dr. Russell is a Professor of Dermatology, Otolaryngology, and Pathology and Director of Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery at UVA. The University of Virginia School of Medicine and School of Nursing designates this live webinar for 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. Providing general cancer screening information and navigation services to community members during EFN food distribution.
To provide health, legal, and community services to community members who are returning from incarceration. COE will be providing cancer screening navigation services and connecting attendees with local resources.
Community outreach event providing cancer screening navigation services and spreading general cancer screening awareness.
The purpose of these bi-weekly (every two weeks) events is to advance community engagement and health equity for all. At Fifeville Health Station, residents can receive free blood-pressure and blood-sugar checkups, get help accessing their cancer screenings, as well as take home fresh produce via a pay-what-you-can farm stand.

Providing cancer screening navigation services with a monthly educational focus on certain cancer types and/or cancer prevention information. A COE Navigation Team member will be present to provide cancer-related navigation services.
The Nelson Community Health Fair will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Nelson County High School! This event offers free health education and resources for the entire family. From providing sports physicals and immunizations for students to connecting you with local health resources. Over 30 local organizations will be participating, offering plenty of valuable information and services. COE team members will provide both cancer screening navigation and education services.
