Join Iglesia Neuva Vida at their community fair. There will be health services, information on vaccines, education, activities for kids and food for sale. A COE team member will provide cancer-related information at this event.
The task force aims to prioritize, act on, and decrease cancer disparities in the region, ensuring proactive cancer screenings and vaccinations. The next meeting is scheduled for July 22, 1- 3 pm, at the United Way Meeting Space in Danville. For more information, contact Ashley Banegas.

Educate on cancer screenings someone may need
-Offer cancer screening navigation as a way to get connected to resources to help complete cancer screenings
-Connect community members to CVHS Buckingham for primary care services if appropriate
-Educate on sun safety for skin cancer risk reduction

Thursday, August 15th, the National Park Service (NPS), Forefront Dermatology of Fishersville, and UVA OCOE will host a free skin cancer screening event for Shenandoah National Park employees. Forefront Dermatology of Fishersville will provide free skin cancer screenings, while UVA COE will be onsite for cancer screening navigation services and information. Shenandoah NPS Headquarters, from 9-noon and then 1-3 pm.
This program plan aims to provide an enriching experience for attendees by combining entertainment with insightful discussions, thereby fostering a greater understanding and appreciation of the contributions of Henriette Lacks. More details to follow on this event.
