Otology/Neurotology
Dr. Kesser specializes in Otology/Neurotology, having completed medical school at the University of Virginia in 1993 and residency training in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck surgery at the University of Virginia in 1998. He received his fellowship training in otology/neurotology from the world-renowned House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles, CA in 2000.
Prior to joining the faculty of the Otolaryngology Department at the University of Virginia, Dr. Kesser worked in private practice in Atlanta, GA with a clinical appointment at Emory University. In 2004, Dr. Kesser returned to the University of Virginia to continue the pioneering work of Dr. Robert Jahrsdoerfer, the world’s foremost authority on surgery for congenital middle ear malformations and aural atresia. His research interests include optimizing outcomes for aural atresia surgery, unilateral hearing loss in children, pulsatile tinnitus, and a simulation tool used for teaching diagnostic otoscopy and myringotomy with ventilation tube insertion.
Dr. Kesser recently stepped down as Chair of the Otology/Neurotology Education Committee of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundation (AAO/HNSF) and currently serves as the Secretary-Treasurer of the American Neurotology Society and Otology/Neurotology, Inc. He has been appointed the Associate Designated Institutional Officer for all GME training at the University of Virginia.
Dr. Kesser is a diplomat of the American Board of Otolaryngology and is Board-certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery with subspecialty certification in Neurotology.
