Core Rotations for Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

UVA Health Child and Family Psychiatry
UVA Outpatient Clinic – Delivering care with social work and on-site nurse practitioners as part of the care team for children and their families. Trainees learn CBT, family and play therapy along with medication treatment initiation and maintenance.
Pediatric Consultation Liaison Psychiatry – Providing services in the emergency room as well as to all pediatric units within the University of Virginia Health System. The fellow will collaborate with the other medical specialty team members and provide recommendations and expertise for stabilization and follow up of patients.
Telemedicine Clinic – Collaborating with rural community services board (CSB) to deliver care to underserved areas of the state as part of a multisite team.

Elective Rotations
Immigrant Clinic – Fellows work with a team including nurses and translators to assess and treat patients who have immigrated to the United States. The clinic is embedded in the Family Medicine clinic and gives opportunities for fellows to expand their work with a diverse group of patients.
The Keswick School – A private, independent school for children with social, emotional, learning and behavioral issues. Trainees work with a staff psychiatrist to provide assessment, treatment and management of students as a part of a larger care team with the goal of optimizing learning and social integration.
